Expectations From Parents & Guardians

MEWS Matriculation Higher Secondary School (MEWS) believes that a child’s success is the result of a strong partnership between the school and the home. Parents and guardians play a vital role in shaping discipline, attitude, habits, and academic performance. These guidelines ensure that the child receives consistent support and a safe, structured environment both at school and at home.

Safety & security Guidelines

To ensure the safety of every child, parents are requested to:

  • Provide the school with a permanent mobile number / landline number for SMS alerts and communication.
  • Inform the school immediately in writing if there is any change in address or phone number (within 3 days).
  • Avoid sending children to school with valuables, gadgets, or expensive items.
  • Ensure the child follows all school safety rules within and outside the campus.
  • Cooperate with school authorities during emergency situations or safety drills.
  • Follow the school’s pick-up and drop-off timings strictly to prevent crowding or delays.
Communication With School

Parents must check the school handbook/diary daily for notes, instructions, and homework.

  • All communication from teachers must be acknowledged with a signature.
  • Unscheduled classroom visits are not permitted during hours.
  • If a parent is requested to meet the Principal or Class Teacher, the matter is important and must be responded to promptly.
  • Parents should communicate politely and respectfully with school staff at all times.
  • Concerns or suggestions should be addressed through the proper channels: Class Teacher → Coordinator → Principal

Consistent communication helps track progress, behaviour, and overall development.

Uniform & Grooming

Parents must ensure that
their child:

  • Wears the prescribed school uniform every day.
  • Is well-groomed with neat and clean appearance.
  • Maintains proper personal hygiene, trimmed nails, and clean shoes.
  • Does NOT wear:
    • Fancy footwear or accessories
    • Ornaments or jewellery
    • Fashion hairstyles or coloured/streaked hair
    • Fancy watches, wristbands, or makeup
  • Students accompanying parents for PTM or school events must be in full uniform.

Proper grooming reflects discipline, respect, and school pride.

Emergency Procedures

In case of emergencies:

  • Parents must cooperate with school instructions without delay.
  • Students will not be allowed to leave the campus early unless:
    • There is a valid emergency
    • The parent meets the Principal and signs the Early Leaving Register.
  • Parents must avoid crowding the school gates or interrupting classes.
  • Always ensure child knows who will pick them up every day.
  • If someone else is picking up the child, parents must inform the school in advance.

Emergency protocols are designed to maintain order, safety, and accountability.

PTM (Parent-Teacher Meetings) Guidelines

PTMs are essential for the academic and personal development of each child. Parents are expected to:

  • Attend all PTMs regularly and punctually.
  • Bring the child in proper school uniform during PTM visits.
  • Review the report card, assignments, and teacher feedback carefully.
  • Discuss academic progress, behaviour, attendance, and improvement areas.
  • Work with teachers to support learning goals at home.
  • Avoid bringing younger siblings to PTMs whenever possible.

Regular parent–teacher partnerships ensure continuous improvement and strong academic outcomes.
